Ian Lehman
(United States)
Aka:
Ian Lehman is one of the hottest emerging techno producers from the United States. In 2001, he formed Abiotic Recordings with long-time friend Dustin Zahn. He quickly moved on to release multiple solo records on a plethora of labels such as Drumworks, Compound, Blueline, Hidden Agenda and more. Together with Dustin Zahn he's also formed 1/2 of The Attack People, whose releases span across labels such as Abiotic and Mankind. Many producers these days do not have a distinguishable sound, but this isn't the case for Ian Lehman. His tracks are linear, dark, and heavily textured DJ tools written exclusively for techno's most daring DJs.
Since Ian formed Abiotic Recordings with Dustin Zahn in 2000, he has concentrated almost every waking moment to his art. Ian's music can be described as dark and minimal yet groovy and experimental. Being heavily influenced by both Swedish and Birmingham techno, his sound has taken the form of cleverly programmed percussion and ambient atmospheres to set the mood on the dance floor. His releases have gained support from Oscar Mulero, Adam Beyer, Ben Sims, and others. When writing music, Ian's goal is to make you think about the music while making your body move at the same time. Recently, Ian has ventured into the world of electro with his soon-to-be-released album on Hi-Pass Music. Once again, Ian carries over his dark soundscapes and intelligent percussion into the world of funky electro. Behind the decks, Ian is known for playing everything from punishing techno to the deepest minimal.
